Peppermint is an ancient herb. It has been around for centuries. The first records of mint can be found in Greek Mythology, Roman lifestyle, and Egyptian pyramids.

Romans used the herb for medicinal purposes and fill their homes with its fresh aromas by planting it in the front and back yards of their homes.

Peppermint grows like a wild plant but is absolutely safe to use. The herb is best for digestive problems. Peppermint in any form, solid, crushed, or steeped is the best remedy for any of the digestive problems.

Peppermint tea is one of the best ways to help reduce stomach pains, bloating, gas, or any other bowl movements, especially in people with IBS – Irritable Bowel Syndrome. Peppermint tea is also a great hunger stimulant. The tea supresses hunger for a short time; however, when the effect of the tea wears of, hunger strikes with more force. Moreover, if you’re someone trying to lose weight, try sipping peppermint tea through out the day, in small amounts. The tea will suppress your desire to munch on sweets and other cravings.

So people suffering with digestive problems or with little appetite or trying to lose weight, peppermint tea is your friend.

Almost all tea brands have peppermint tea. If you prefer not to buy any of these teas then you can easily make peppermint tea at home. The only ingredient required is peppermint leaves that can be easily grown in your backyard. The herb is easy to store for winters, all you need to do is dry the leaves in the sun and then store in a cool place in a container. So whether it’s summer or winter you always have peppermint leaves on hand.

To make the tea just steep the leaves in hot water then you can either remove the leaves or enjoy chewing on them while sipping the tea. I usually enjoy the tea without adding any additives but people often mix honey and lemon in the tea. The results are sweet and calming to your senses. You can enjoy the tea hot or cold, depends on your liking.

The tea is completely caffeine free so you can enjoy it any time of the day.
