Pu-erh Tea
Pu-erh Tea is a new variety of centuries old aged dark tea from China. The standardized birth of this tea came into being in 1950s postwar China. Ethnic groups at the borders of China traditionally used the aged dark teas. These aged dark teas vary in varieties and were meant to be low in cost.
The postwar China increased the demand of aged dark tea, which resulted in producers artificially fermenting a dark tea. Later on a way was developed that allows dark tea to ferment in bulk naturally. The tea is pressed together in cakes or bricks and age with time.
